Girls in Tech

Last night my coworker @stephschneider and I had the opportunity to attend our first Girls in Tech LA event!!!! I have to start by saying that it was absolutely amazing!!! It was a great opportunity to network and learn a lot from these young wonderful women.

For those of you that are new to the tech world!!! ( just like I am!!!!) Girls in Tech is a social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology. It was born out of a need to provide a place for women to cultivate ideas around their careers and business concepts involving technology. This group was created in February of 2007, it was founded by Adriana Gascoigne and the LA chapter is currently organized by Robyn Chohen .

The event started with a panel discussion that talked about the current state and future of the Fashion and Beauty industry ,in the web/tech world. The panel was composed of: Maxine Tatlonghari Founder of Vanity Girl Hollywood, Chris Elia Founder of Closet Couture, Patricia Handschiegel Founder of the 9 group, Macala Wright Interactive Marketing Director for 1928 Jewelry, Catherine Hickland Founder of Cat Cosmetics and Meg O’Brian Founder of Meg’s Makeup. The panel gave some great advice on how to start your new business and what tools to use while doing so!!!

After the panel we got to see a great fashion show as well as network with all this wonderful folks but most important we recruited some GLXP fans!!!!. We ate some cupcakes , drink some of the new Energy drink for women also know as HER but most important and received a gift bag with tons of goodies!!. Check out our pictures and stay tuned for more updates and tweets as I will be attending many more of these tech events!!!
