Hello there from the South by Southwest Interactive Conference in Austin, TX. I'm here all weekend to discover new ways to bring the Google Lunar X PRIZE to the people of the Intarwebs, and I'll be reporting in as much as possible in a variety of ways. Sometimes I'll be talking space, sometimes I'll be talking tech, sometimes, well.... you'll see.

I touched down this morning around 11:30am to discover that Austin, despite it's proximity to the equator, is reallly realllllly cold right now. Current temp is somewhere around 40 degrees F, with overcast skies and light rain. Not what I expected.

I spent a few hours catching up with a variety of work-related items before venturing out into the chilly Texas air to partake in a quintessentially American cuisine: barbecue. Those who know me well know that I am something of a barbecue snob, and having never been to Texas I've always been skeptical of the lavish praise bestowed upon this region's dialect of my favorite food.

Vic's Bar-B-Que is one of those places you see in movies. It hasn't been renovated in years, the walls are covered with gaudy faux-Texan tchotchkes, and they've got tables in long rows. And let me tell you, the food is, for lack of a better term, incredible.

I'll just leave it at that. Yes, that's RC cola.

More later, but wanted to tag up with this vlog entry I did this morning on our YouTube channel.

"despite its proximity to the equator" - Classic.

Glad Texas can represent.
